Welcome to Taizen Martial Arts!

At Taizen, our love for martial arts is inspired by our founder, Dave Stennett, who has dedicated over 30 years to training and sharing his passion for Uechi Ryu Karate. Under the mentorship of three-time world champion Karl Aylliffe and Grandmaster Gaja in Okinawa, Dave has developed a deep respect for the traditions, discipline, and philosophy that shape this art.

Dave’s journey has also taken him beyond karate, exploring Shorinji Kenpo and Muay Thai, with training experiences in Japan and Thailand, and more than 15 years of competitive experience. Drawing on these diverse influences, Dave has created a welcoming space where students can build skill, confidence, and inner calm.

At Taizen Martial Arts, we bring together the best of these styles to offer a well-rounded and mindful approach to training. Our philosophy focuses on staying calm and composed in every moment, both on and off the mat. This spirit is captured in our motto: “Forever Calm, Forever Composed.”

We warmly invite you to join us at our dojo and begin your own journey of growth and discovery through martial arts.

We offer traditional Okinawan karate classes, kickboxing classes, and private lessons for those looking for a more personalised experience.
